Dreadbox is a developer and manufacturer boutique company of analog synthesizers and effects, based in Athens, Greece. It was founded in 2012 by the electronic engineer Yannis Diakoumakos and the graphic designer Dimitra Manthou. The fact that they were both amateur musicians, forced them to mingle with circuits so as to build their own effects and later synthesizers. Their first synthesizer was a footsynth (the ancestor of the Murmux Pedalsynth).
Today the team behind Dreadbox is consisted of 7 people, including the founders, and a dog. It’s a small company and everything is built and assembled in their workshop with infinite love. Their philosophy is to design quality devices that they would use in the first place.
Dreadbox’s most remarkable release is the Erebus. A paraphonic synthesizer with a built in delay effect and a patchbay. Currently they are working on several stunning projects, which will be revealed in the near future.
